Gala Audition Informtion

Cappies Gala Dancer Auditions

Auditions will be virtual. Please fill out the online audition form and submit a video audition with the below requirements.

Audition Requirements:

  • You will record and submit a video of yourself in form-fitting dance attire performing: 

    • a Grand battement/Kick combination

    • a Double Pirouette on both sides

      • Optional, turn combination/series (ex. Fouettes, a la seconde)

    • a Leap of your choice AND

    • a 32-count jazz combination (You may showcase the requirements above in your combinations).

    • Optional: include a 32-count tap combination

  • Please state your full name at the beginning of the video and make sure to credit the choreographer of any combinations you submit.

Rehearsal Schedule:

All rehearsals are MANDATORY.

Rehearsals leading up to the pre-show week will be determined based on Dancer availability. These rehearsals will take place either at George C. Marshall High School in the Tysons Corner/Falls Church, VA area, Langley High School in McLean, VA, or Oakton High School in Oakton, VA.

The following production week rehearsals will take place at Langley HS in McLean, VA. 

  • Monday, June 1 from 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Tuesday, June 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Wednesday, June 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Thursday, June 4 from 6:00-8:00pm

  • Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, June 6 from 8:00am-10:30am

Gala Day: Sunday, June 7 - Student performers will be at the Gala venue from 10:30 am to about 10:30 pm.

Expectations:

  • Costumes will be provided. Tights, undergarments, and shoes will not be provided. Specific requirements for these items will be communicated at the beginning of rehearsals.

  • Perform the opening and closing numbers at the Cappies Gala.

  • Attendance at all rehearsals and punctiality at call times.

  • Dancers must pay for a Gala ticket. Dancers are able to reserve one additional paid guest ticket.
